My 3 top tips to kick-start the decluttering process
- ‘A place for everything, and everything in its place’ – the old sayings are very often the best, and this is one of my favourites!
Once you have used something, put it back in its place. Things can quickly get out of control, so if you tidy up every day you will find it becomes a habit.
Set aside 5 minutes to follow this simple rule each day and you will quickly notice the difference. Take a bag with you as you go; that way you can easily put things back quickly and efficiently.
- Decant items from their bulky packaging.
I have a ‘thing’ about the overuse of packaging. For me, it is about retailers trying to make us feel that things are bigger and better than they actually are and that we feel that we’re getting a good deal – we’re not. So remove the packaging before it even makes it into your cupboard or drawer – you will save a lot of space.
- Start small and build up
Most people don’t have time to do everything at once so don’t put pressure on yourself: you have to start somewhere, so even if you tackle something small like a drawer, it will give you the impetus to carry on. And then contact me: georgiana@lifespace.london when you need extra inspiration!
